Good news for everyone enjoying the 30% tax ruling. The Dutch government decided not scrap this ruling. But to cap the max amount. The 30% ruling, which gives claimants the right to 30% of their salary tax free, will now only apply to a maximum of €216,000 in gross income, so that people earning more will pay the full tax rate of 49.5% on the excess.
The 216.000 euro is not a random amount, it’s the so called Balkende norm, former prime minster who brought in a maximum salary for the public sector during his term.
So, if you earn under 216k nothing will change. A big relieve for most of us.
